Oli's in the know

As you all know, we "are expecting" as they say. We couldn't be more excited and telling all of our family and friends has been a huge highlight. I still have a warmth in my heart from the genuine excitement you all showed (or is that the increased body temperature of being pregnant?). However, I must say that telling Oli was the highlight. I will admit I was a bit nervous of how he would react but it was priceless.

We played a bit of a game with him (that of course had a prize at the end if he guessed right) - it wound up being some odd combination of giving cluse, 20 questions and hot and cold.

Brett: "How many people are in this house?"

Oli: "I know! 5!"

Brett: "5?"

Oli: "You, me, Wendy, Scout and Fishy"

Brett: "Wrong, there are more people in this house than you think"

Oli: "Really? Is the other person big or small"

Wendy: "Small"

Oli (as he looks around): "Is it hidden?"

Wendy: "yes"

And it went on like that for a while and we switched to a good game of Hot and Cold. After a bit of Oli and I running around the house, it ended with Oli being very hot standing right in front of me.

Brett: "Oli you are SO hot"

Oli (very confused)

Brett: "stick your arms out"

Oli: "but Wendy is there"

Brett: "yeah, just try it"

Oli (puts arms out)

Wendy: "Oli, you are so hot, ouch, ouch" "Now remember it is hidden"

Oli: "Oh, Oh" as he lifts up my shirt and then lifts up my tank top and then lifts up the Belly Band with more excitement with each layer. Gets to my skin and looks disappointed. He says, "I thought that it was going to be under here"

Wendy: "it is"

Oli, with a voice full of incredulation, "Is there a baby in your belly? Really? A baby in your belly?

It was precious. And Brett had the video camera rolling but the battery ran out :(.

The rest of the weekend he would say things like, "wendy, maybe you shouldn't bend over like that, might squish the baby" "oh, the baby likes the bumpy car ride" "wendy, maybe you should eat more so that baby gets enough food"

I can only hope to have our new baby grow up to be as kind hearted and spunky as his/her big brother.
