I read in Parents Magazine that February 24th was National Pancake Day. Ok, if they say so! We celebrated with pancakes for dessert.
Little did I know (and little did Parents Magazine mention) that this holiday has historical relevance. Brett informed me that it is called Shrove Tuesday which is where my research began. Per Wikipedia: "Pancakes and doughnuts are associated with the day preceding Lent because they were a way to use up rich foodstuffs such as eggs, milk, and sugar, before the fasting season of the 40 days of Lent. Wow, if the Gossett's had known we would have done breakfast for dinner and had ourselves some pancakes! Thanks for history lesson.
