Summer Dreaming

A bit of dreaming and a lot of planning! We sat down tonight to put together the Alston Summer Schedule - this is just the kind of project I love! This consisted of a dreaming session (i.e. brainstorm) of summer activities and then plotting them on the colorful calendar I made in advance for all to see (and follow).

We have a lot of fun things planned: a visit from Grandma, summer camps, a week in Roche Harbor, Seafair, Cirque du Soleil tickets, Blake Island Camping, waterskiing and on and on and on. Summer, here we come!

A blank calendar just waiting to be filled in!
Note the excessive use of stickers...now Oli just needs to practice putting them on completely straight. Ok, ok, it doesn't HAVE to be perfect.

Genuine smiles for the genuine fun we hope to have this summer!

Julia enjoyed the activity as well...she spends 90% of her day smiling and chatting and the other 10% with a serious look on her face. I feel lucky to say that we get very few tears.

Oli'ism #83

(scene: After school, I gave Oli had 5 minutes to play on the playground. Two minutes into his playtime..)

Oli: Wendy, I need to go to the bathroom. Can I go back into the school and go?

Wendy: No, sweetie, that will take the remainder of your time. Can you hold it and continue playing for 3 minutes?

Oli: You know, I don't know. I guess we'll have to see. (as he ran off...)

The good news is it all ended well (for everyone).
