A Walk Down Memory Lane...

During our time in California, we had one day free. We squeezed in as much as we could (and even this list doesn't include everything I wanted to do):
- Drove up Pacific Coast Highway to Huntington Beach
- Lunch in Huntington Beach
- Drove to Long Beach and drove past Belmont Shores and Ron's house (we moved in with him when I was 14 or so)
- Drove to Seal Beach where we met up with Val
- Drove to Los Alamitos past the house that I lived in from 5-14 years old
- Drove to Costa Mesa to Ronn, Marilyn and Joel's house for a visit
- Was back in Vista for dinner

(even our vacations are go, go, go...but we love it that way!)

Here is Brett on Huntington Beach Pier making his last work call for the week. He hung up and announced, "ahhhh, I now feel like I am on vacation".

Julia and "Slick". Slick is a bronze seal that sits at the base of Seal Beach Pier and the tradition is to rub his nose as you walk past him making his nose shine. Seal Beach is the beach I grew up on...being there brought back so many wonderful memories! Seal Beach is a quaint, 1 mile long beach with a darling main street. Some things were just the same and others had changed...for instance, I was disappointed that Grandma's Ice Cream had been replaced by Cold Stone Creamery.

Auntie Val met us in Seal Beach for a walk and a bite to eat. Not near enough time for a visit but we cherished the time we had, none-the-less.

Here is the house I lived in from 5-14 years old. It is on Dogwood Ave....I never knew then how beautiful dogwood trees were but now they are one of my favorite trees. We even planted one last year in our backyard and it is currently blooming.

Here is Ron's house that he lived in as a bachelor and then opened it up to my mom and her 2 teenage daughters. I am sure he could tell you all the ways that the house changed but what I recall is that the horns on the wall in what would become Karen's room were removed and 2 additional phone lines were installed. A great way to welcome us!

Sorry, Ronn, Marilyn and Joel....we were doing too much catching up and I forgot to grab a picture. Visiting Ronn and Marilyn's is always so great because they have wonderful "show and tell". We saw Ronn's guitars that he has made including the tools he has had to make to build the guitars. And we saw Marilyn's latest paintings, drawings and books. Those two are SO darn talented!
