First Day of Kindergarten

Our little boy is growing up! Off to school he went yesterday and is loving it! As soon as he woke up yesterday he groggily said, "First day of school! We gotta get going" and promptly rolled over and fell back to sleep.

The highlight was that the class earned 12 marbles for the "good" jar. And once it is full, they CELEBRATE!

The things that were unexpected is that he thought that there would be lockers and that he would have his own desk (from tv shows, we guess) and he was very surprised that there was a water fountain.

Learning to tie shoe laces...he did it on his own this morning! But it took Dad's patience to really get it to sink in.

He is most definitely the tallest kid in the class. When we first arrived on campus, he got confidently in line with the third graders since they were about as tall as him.

In the red is his teacher, Mrs. Bebee and on the right is Grandma Bertha. She is 87 and this is her 17th year volunteering in the same kindergarten classroom. They give her Thursday's off for her errands. She was proud to tell us that she received the governor's award last year. What a sweetie!

And off he goes....
